RHETTA BUTLER

RHETTA BUTLER was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She started performing at the age of two! She left Atlanta at the age of 17 and went to New York. She worked her way through Hunter College working as a performer. She majored in Music and the Performing Arts. After college she had extensive private training in voice, piano, guitar, songwriting, commercials, sight singing, acting, and dancing.

RHETTA has vast experience in the entertainment industry as a singer, songwriter, musician, actress and dancer. Her experience includes the recording industry, live concerts, theatre, commercials and films.

RHETTA has performed at most major hotels in the U.S. with numerous well-known orchestras including Peter Duchin . She has entertained at the President's Inaugural Ball, Georgia's Governor's Ball, the Indianapolis 500 and N.Y. City's Task Force Music Festival. She has performed at the Plaza, the St. Regis, the Americana, the N.Y. Hilton and the Waldorf Astoria. She has also been featured with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra at Chastain Park. Her rare performances in the past few years have included benefits for the Georgia Special Olympics opening for the Atlanta Rhythm Section, the Disaster Relief Concert after 9/11 at Centennial Park and most recently singing the National Anthem on national television at Talledega Super Speedway.

RHETTA recorded with Atlantic Records and also with Warner Bros.

RHETTA has written, sang and produced several commercial jingles for national television and radio advertising campaigns. She has also appeared and/or sang in commercials for Aaron's, Old Spice, Chicken Delight, Nathan's Famous, Off-Track Betting, U.S. Keds, Getty Oil and Women's Day Magazine.

RHETTA has also performed at intimate clubs across the country including The Bluebird, Douglas Corner Café, The Ballroom, The Bottom Line, The Other End, Tramps, Grande Finale, Reno Sweeney's, Trax, The Copacabana, Dangerfields, The Friar's Club, The Riverboat, Kenny's Castaways, The Fugues, O'Lunney's, Fat Tuesday's, The Point, Walter Middy's and The Purple Parrot.

RHETTA has also appeared in numerous theatre productions including Butterflies are Free, Glass Menagerie, Barefoot in the Park, Loss of Roses and Come Blow Your Horn. Rhetta has also appeared in musical productions including Pal Joey, Sweet Charity, South Pacific, Showboat, Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, Finian's Rainbow, How Now Dow Jones, Funny Girl and Gypsy.

RHETTA returned to Atlanta ten years ago retiring from the performing industry. She has since devoted herself to teaching and helping others. She is a dedicated and gifted teacher working with adults and children. She enjoys working with the novice as well as the professional. She teaches vocal technique, vocal coaching including song interpretation and live performance, recording techniques, ear training, sight reading, music theory, songwriting, piano and guitar. She also offers consultation for artist development and career strategy.

RHETTA has her own publishing company, Rhetta Butler Music. She also has a publishing contract for some of her songs with a New York publishing company - The Clyde Otis Music Group. She recently returned from a trip to New York where she signed an eight song deal. Clyde Otis is recognized in the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame for producing, publishing and songwriting. He is known for such his as "It's Just a Matter of Time, "The Stroll", "Smooth Operator" and "The Boll Weavil Song". He has worked with such greats as Ella Fitzerald, Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington and Natalie Cole. He convinced Rhetta to allow him to get her songs to other artists after she retired from performing herself. Clyde compares Rhetta's songwriting to such greats as Diane Warren.

RHETTA was inspired to write and record "Still Rockin' for the USA" after the attack on America on September 11th. She is so impressed with how America is "still rockin'" no matter what happens. She wanted to contribute something positive to keeping our country's spirits lifted and to encourage people to keep going. The song was played on radio daily during those troubled times for America. Other songs written by Rhetta that have been recorded are "Under the Same Moon," "Monday, Please Don't Come," "Prehistoric Woman," "Thank God, I'm So Glad I Didn't Marry that Man", "Sometimes You Wanna Go Back" and "The Lovin' Song".

RHETTA has been professionally affiliated with BMI, Actor's Equity, SAG, AFTRA, and the Musician's Union.
